Jury Delivers Quick Guilty Verdict in Fatal Alabama Repossession Shooting
Huntsville, AL – May 6, 2026 – Silence fell over a Madison County courtroom Wednesday. The jury returned with a quick guilty verdict in one of the most closely watched repossession-related homicide cases in recent memory. The decision concludes a trial that centered on a deadly encounter during a late-night vehicle recovery and the question of whether the shooting was fear-driven, or intentional.

A Madison County jury found Warren Siao guilty of murder in the killing of towing company owner Jayson Click during a 2023 repossession attempt.
Siao was charged in the death of Click, owner and operator of Ace Towing LLC. Investigators said Click was attempting to repossess a vehicle at Siao’s residence when he was shot and killed.

The prosecution rested its case shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The defense, which ultimately chose not to call any witnesses, rested before 11 a.m. Following closing arguments from both sides, jurors began deliberations Wednesday afternoon before returning the guilty verdict.
The trial began Monday with jury selection and opening statements. Over the course of the proceedings, jurors heard testimony from multiple witnesses presented by the state, including:
- Ann Click, Jayson Click’s wife
- Bill Irwin, the tow truck driver assisting that night
- Siao’s now ex-wife, Katina Birtchfield
- Responding deputies
- Sheriff’s office investigators
- A medical examiner with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences
Jurors also reviewed 9-1-1 recordings, deputy body camera footage, video of the repossession that appeared to have been recorded by Jayson Click, and Siao’s police interrogation.

Throughout the trial, prosecutors argued that Siao was aware repossession was possible because he had fallen behind on vehicle payments. They further contended that Siao bypassed a handgun located in his bedroom and instead retrieved a rifle equipped with a suppressor before confronting the repossession team.
Siao had previously testified that he believed Click and the repossession crew were attempting to steal his car. He claimed he fired his weapon only to scare them away, believing they were burglars.
Testimony also revealed that investigators recovered thousands of home security recordings from Siao’s residence, though footage of the actual shooting itself was reportedly missing.
Siao now faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. His sentencing is scheduled for June 10 at 11:00 a.m.
