Texas Man Accused of Threatening Dispatchers While Searching for His Repossessed Vehicles

SPRING, TX – August 20, 2026 – A Texas man’s search for his repossessed vehicles allegedly took a dangerous turn after authorities say repeated calls to 911 ended with threats against emergency dispatchers.

According to Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office, a deputy responded on August 19 to The Pierpoint Apartments on Springwoods Village Parkway in Spring, Texas, regarding what authorities described as a “meet-the-citizen” call.

During the investigation, deputies learned that Thaddeus Roberts had reportedly contacted dispatch several times trying to determine the location of his repossessed vehicles.

Dispatchers reportedly told Roberts they did not have information concerning where the vehicles had been taken.

That’s when authorities say the calls escalated.

According to the Constable’s Office, Roberts allegedly threatened to put on a bulletproof vest and kill the dispatchers.

Arrest Follows the Calls

Roberts was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of Abuse of 911, according to the Constable’s Office.

Bond and court information had not yet been set when authorities announced the arrest.

The incident offers another reminder of an issue familiar to recovery professionals: the repossession itself isn’t always the end of the confrontation.

Once a vehicle is recovered, borrowers may begin calling lenders, police departments, dispatch centers, recovery agencies and storage facilities trying to determine who took the vehicle and where it was transported.

Most of those calls end routinely. This one allegedly didn’t.

Fortunately, authorities reported an arrest rather than an encounter between the vehicle owner and the recovery agent or storage facility holding the collateral.

Roberts is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
