Remembering Carl Purvis: A Life Dedicated to the Recovery Industry

RSIG Honors an Industry Leader and Former Allied President Who Helped Bring Two Industry Organizations Together

Recovery Specialist Insurance Group is saddened to share that we recently learned of the death of Carl Purvis of Federal Auto Recovery in Smyrna, Georgia after a battle with cancer. Carl passed away at his home June 24, 2026.

Carl was a member of RSIG from 1994 until he closed his business in 2017. Carl also served as the President and Past President of Allied Finance Adjusters. Carl served in the United States Marine Corps and owned and operated Federal Auto Recovery for more than 30 years.

Prior to his retirement from the industry Carl was the first person to ever receive RSIG’s highest honor the J. Ace Carter award for Excellence in June 2016. Carl also represented Allied on the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund Advisory Committee. Carl’s love and passion for the business and the numerous individuals he established relationships with drove him to promote the industry in a positive light and to create relationships that served to better the industry.

Carl was instrumental in bringing about the discussions to have RSIG and Allied consider hosting a joint meeting; doing so with the intent to reduce expenses to both groups and show strength and unity in a fractured industry. Since then, RSIG and Allied have hosted 13 joint annual meetings, a goal near and dear to Carl’s heart.
