Recovery Agent Attacked During Stockton Repossession Attempt

Five Suspects Reportedly Involved; Victim Declines Medical Treatment

 

Stockton, CA – July 30, 2026 – A repossession attempt in Stockton turned violent Wednesday evening after a recovery agent was allegedly pulled from a vehicle and assaulted by multiple suspects, according to the Stockton Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Tyrol Lane in the city’s Lakeview District.

According to the department’s Watch Commander’s Night Report, the 44-year-old male recovery agent was attempting to repossess a vehicle.  It was then, that several individuals confronted him. Police said the suspects pulled the man from the vehicle and attacked him before fleeing the scene.

Authorities reported that two of the suspects drove away in the vehicle that was the subject of the repossession, while several others fled on foot.

The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police described the suspects as one adult Black female and four adult Black males. No arrests had been announced as of Thursday afternoon. Investigators have not released additional details regarding the motive, weapon involved, or the relationship between the suspects and the vehicle.

The Stockton Police Department is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the department.
