Atlanta Repo Murder Victim Identified

Atlanta, GA – January 18, 2024 – Back in August we reported on a unnamed 47-year-old man murdered during a repossession in Atlanta. Missing from this tragic incident was the victim’s name. Despite inquiries to the Atlanta PD and the news source, the man’s name remained a mystery. Until now.

On Tuesday, the original reporting news source, The Atlanta Journal Constitution released a story covering the names and stories of the numerous murders in Atlanta in 2023. Within it, the name of Antonio Beckham, a 47-year-old man killed during a repossession on August 26th was reported.

As previously reported on August 28th, Just after 1am on Saturday the 26th Atlanta police responded to a call about a wrecked vehicle in a residential neighborhood in south west Atlanta. Upon arrival, they discovered the wrecked white sedan. Inside it, they found a 47-year-old man, now identified as Antonio Beckham, conscious, but with bullet wounds to his abdomen and leg. He was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

The supporting link to the Atlanta Police blotter posted at 8:39PM added that “The male was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”

Police report that the alleged shooter or shooters fled the scene, and an investigation was ongoing.

In The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s, new article they report;

Antonio Beckham was attempting to repossess a vehicle for his employer when he was shot, causing him to crash into the woods off Cascade Avenue, according to police. Beckham later died from his injuries. He was 47. The case was declared a homicide in November and an arrest warrant was later issued for a suspect, police said.

Armed with a name, I found Antonio Beckham’s Obituary posted on Legacy.com. .

BECKHAM, Antonio

Age 47, of Atlanta, GA, passed August 26, 2023. Funeral Service Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 1 PM, Woodward Bpt. Church. Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel.

In case you didn’t click on the link to the site, it shows no responses and provides nothing more. I can find no photos or verifiable social media to provide any further information as to his employer or family.

As I initially stated, the fact that the sedan was wrecked and with no mention of a tow truck, indicates that it was most likely being driven. There may or may not have been a second person assisting the victim, but his ability to drive it indicates that he probably had keys.

This detail indicates that it was most likely have been a repossession conducted for a private party or local buy-here-pay-here car dealer and possibly not an employee of an established repossession agency.

Antonio was the third repo related murder in 2023. After him, four more. While Antonio Beckham was probably not an employee of a repossession agency, his death is equally tragic. No car is worth a life. Period.

Be Safe,

Kevin
