Marietta, GA – January 20, 2024 – A desperate borrower at the Quality Inn took things to the extreme. When arguing with the repossession agent failed to get him to drop his SUV, he allegedly went scorched earth in his efforts to flee with it.

Back on January 3rd, just before noon, an unnamed repossessor had lifted a 2008 Cadillac Escalade onto his tow truck at the Quality Inn on Franklin Gateway in Marietta. The borrower, having discovered the repossession in process, confronted the agent and an argument reportedly ensued.

Getting nowhere through debate, 47-year-old Anton Raynard West is reported to have gotten into his raised Escalade, starting the engine, and putting it in reverse.

Fighting like a fish on the hook, West is accused of causing significant damage. Left in his trail of destruction were the median barrier, some street signs and the entire front drivers-side bumper of a 2014 Chevy Malibu, according to the arrest warrant.

Managing to free his SUV from the clutches of the recovery agent, West’s freedom from repossession, and the law, didn’t last long. By 2:49pm the same day, he was placed under arrest.

West now faces charges of hit and run and second-degree criminal damage. Following his booking into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center he was released on a $3,000 bond.
