North Charleston, SC – June 25, 2026 – A South Carolina repossession agent is facing multiple criminal charges after police say a repossession attempt escalated into a chase and an armed confrontation on a busy North Charleston roadway Wednesday afternoon.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers responded to the 5600 block of Dorchester Road at approximately 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports of an incident involving an armed repossession agent.
When officers arrived, they located and detained Lydarius Eunique Wise, 37, of Gaston, who was reportedly armed with a handgun. Police safely secured the firearm and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators say witness statements and video evidence indicate the confrontation began before the repossession attempt was completed. According to police, Wise allegedly struck the debtor’s vehicle and then attempted to prevent it from leaving by blocking its path and performing what officers described as a maneuver similar to a PIT maneuver while both vehicles were traveling on a public roadway.
The driver continued to evade the repossession attempt before eventually pulling into a business along Dorchester Road.
Police allege that Wise exited his vehicle, approached the driver, and pointed a handgun at the victim. According to the incident report, Wise admitted to officers that he was holding the firearm as he approached the vehicle.

Following the investigation, Wise was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery, Second Degree, and Pointing and Presenting a Firearm. He was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The incident serves as another reminder of the dangers associated with vehicle recoveries and the importance of maintaining strict compliance with company policies and state laws governing repossession activities. While repossessions can quickly become volatile, the use or display of a firearm during a recovery can dramatically escalate both the legal consequences and the potential risk to everyone involved.
The allegations remain accusations, and Wise is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
