Wanted Suspect Allegedly Threatened Recovery Agent Before Fleeing with Vehicle

Cincinnati, OH – September 8, 2026 – Cincinnati police are searching for a 39-year-old man accused of pulling a handgun on a repossession agent and driving away in the vehicle the agent was attempting to recover.

According to a Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Crime Stoppers wanted notice, Donald Birch Jr. allegedly brandished a handgun at the recovery agent while the agent was attempting to repossess Birch’s vehicle. Birch then allegedly drove away in the vehicle, preventing the repossession.

Birch is wanted by the Cincinnati Police Department’s District Three Investigative Unit on charges that include aggravated robbery, three counts of felony theft, felony probation violation and four misdemeanor theft counts. Authorities say he is also wanted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Harrison Police Department on additional felony and misdemeanor theft charges.

Police describe Birch as approximately six feet tall and 300 pounds. His last known address was on Desoto Drive in Cincinnati’s Finneytown area. Crime Stoppers also reports an arrest history that includes assault, theft and criminal trespass.

Few details about the repossession itself have been released. Authorities have not publicly identified the recovery agent or repossession company, the vehicle involved, or whether the vehicle was hooked or otherwise under the agent’s control when the confrontation occurred.

The incident nevertheless represents another example of the unpredictable circumstances recovery agents can encounter during what begins as an otherwise routine vehicle repossession. In this case, an attempted collateral recovery allegedly escalated into an armed confrontation serious enough for authorities to pursue an aggravated robbery charge.
