Houston, TX – February 20, 2013 – Nineteen years after the purposeful murder of Houston Repo Man Tommy Deen Morris, a fact based book which has been in the works by Morris’s widow, Donna Morris and
retired California Prosecutor Martin C. Brehl for several years, has been accepted for publishing and national release by an unidentified national publisher.
So sad………..
Thank you CU Collector for not allowing us to forget. This story allows to remember what we do is dangerous and life-threatening. I thank the Morris family for what they have given all of us in this industry.
It is my solemn prayer that someday, we as an industry, will set aside the little things we squabble over and unite to bring legitimacy and protection under law for all of us who do this job every day and every night.
How many stories do we need to read of another attacked or fallen brother or sister while performing this job for peanuts? States pass laws stripping us of self protection and our 2nd Amendment Right. (If it can be taken away, is it really a right or just a privilege?)
I hope that we can begin to press for laws that afford a repossessor the same protections as law enforcement, firefighters, and other dangerous occupations enjoy. I can not tell you have many times a police officer has commented on my job as insane for not carrying a gun. Yet we stand by and watch TV shows mock us, politicians deny us, and lien holders abuse us.
The part that really got me was the lien holder didn’t even send a card or flowers. Would any of the lien holders I work for do differently? The sad truth is no. The assignment would just be moved to the next repossessor.
May God Almighty Bless us, our families, and keep us safe as we go out to perform our job.
No pleasure on my part, but it has been a story I never forgot and my honor to know Donna and her daughter who have never faded in their quest for justice. Not just against the double assigning lender/dealer, but against a law that condones murder and creates a constantly dangerous and life threatening situation daily for repossessors in the great state of Texas.
