The picture you are looking at, is that of a borrower threatening to kill a repossessor with a 12 gauge shotgun in his driveway. This is not staged and is a shot from live action recordings from a dashcam. That camera may have saved his life has led to charges being filed against the borrower.
The footage provided has led to the borrower being arrested and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 2 counts of possession of a firearm during te commission of a felony.
While dash and body cams are not an industry requirement by anyone at this time, there is serious value to these as exemplified by the outcome of this incident. A picture tells a thousand words and there is no telling how many frivolous lawsuits for alleged breaches of peace could be quickly dismissed or how many violent borrowers could be arrested if these were more prevalent.
Obviously, these aren’t cheap and obviously agencies are hurting, but this is a technology that could save a fortune in lawsuits and possibly lives.
