Repo Shooting at a Walmart Caught on Video

Hollywood, FL – 9 March 2018 – A man who police said fired shots at a repo man in a Hollywood, Florida Walmart parking lot was arrested Friday morning. The shooting was caught on video.

Hollywood Police responded to the scene of Wednesday night’s incident in a Walmart parking lot, located along the 300 block of South State Road 7, just before 8 p.m.

The tow truck driver, Jason, who works for Heat Recovery, said he was getting ready to repossess a silver Nissan Murano when someone pulled out a gun and fired shots at him.

Jason, who did not show his face on camera, said it was the SUV owner’s boyfriend who pulled the gun. “His hand was shaking, and he had that look in his face like it’s going down,” he said.

“I tried to calm him down, ‘Yo, yo, yo, give me a chance, you know, like I’ll drop the vehicle, don’t worry about it,’” Jason recalled. “It’s not worth it for material stuff. That’s what people need to understand.”

Jason had his cellphone out and and started recording video.

“And then I saw him point the gun straight at me, I ducked down under the vehicle, and that’s when the gunshot went off,” said Jason.

A bullet pierced the back window of the tow truck and came out the windshield.

The tow truck driver was not injured.

The subject fled in an unknown direction.

A woman who appeared to be the owner of the SUV was later seen removing personal items from the vehicle. She was not outside when shots were fired and was not injured.

The tow truck driver’s boss later came to the scene and towed away the Murano.

Jason said when you’re in the business of repossessing cars, you often find yourself in some pretty intense situations. He said he’s had a gun pointed at him in the past but never had he been shot at before.

“We have plenty of guns pulled on us, but nobody really shoots. Everybody just uses it as a scare tactic, or they think we’re stealing the car. Then when they find out we’re there for a repossession or something, they usually drop it,” said Jason.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Frank Sylvera Mathurin Jr. was arrested Thursday and has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon.
