Back on Monday June 26that @ 11PM, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a call of shots fired at the intersection of East Irvington Rd. and South Hotel Drive in Tucson. Arriving at the scene, officers found a repossession agent suffering from a gunshot wound.

The repossession agent, who wished to remain unidentified, reported that a silver sedan, the same as the one parked next to the vehicle that he had repossessed, had pulled up next to him on the passenger side of the truck and opened fire. The repossessor was also armed and leapt from his truck and returned fire sending his assailants fleeing.

Deputies conducted an investigation and reviewed surveillance video from the motel located at 314 East Benson Highway, which showed a group of four men pour from the motel room and down to make chase just after the agent left the lot.

On June 28th at around 10:50 a.m., the Pima Regional SWAT Team, along with detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Robbery-Assault Team and Fugitive Investigations Unit, served a search warrant at the motel and arrested 36-year-old Daniel Maldonado.
