Clarksville, TN – March 2, 2024 – Her car was lifted two feet in the air. But that wasn’t going to stop one American Credit Acceptance borrower. What followed was a damaged telephone pole and a reckless escape driving through an apartment complex.

According to David and Carolyn Gillard, who work for DC Towing, the chaos happened at a Dunbar Cave Road apartment complex early in the morning of February 20th. Having successfully located a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu assigned for repossession by American Credit Acceptance, the lifted it and were in the process of securing it when they met the borrower.

28-year-old Marjae Cortezia Williams was not going to let her car go without a fight. Climbing into the car, Williams managed to free the car causing it to drop two feet to the ground. Panicked and continuing to back away, William then struck a telephone pole causing its guide line to break.

With no apparent other way to flee, Williams then reportedly drove her Malibu through the side grassy area of the densely populated apartment complex.

Needless to say, Williams failed to provide any identification or insurance at the scene of the incident. The Gilliard’s called police and soon after Williams was arrested and taken into custody for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving damage, and hindering a secured creditor.

Williams was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $10,000.
