PARA Confirms Police Support for Ending In-Person Check-ins Amid Ongoing Legal Pressure

As President of the Pennsylvania Repossessors Association (PARA), I want to clarify that our organization, along with our legal team, has been actively engaged in direct discussions with the Philadelphia Police Department Commissioner’s Office since late 2024 regarding the repossession procedures at issue.

Throughout these discussions, PARA has been assured by Philadelphia PD leadership that they agree with our position: repossessors cannot be required to physically present themselves to check vehicles in person. Importantly, we have received a commitment that the department is working toward implementing a revised policy that will allow for email-based processing of repossessions, with an anticipated rollout as soon as May 2026.

While PARA remains committed to working collaboratively with the Philadelphia Police Department to reach a practical and lawful resolution that benefits all parties, we also reserve the right to pursue all available legal options if necessary.

We understand and support the plaintiff’s position in the current legal action and are hopeful that the progress being made through PARA’s efforts will help bring this matter to a swift and constructive resolution.

Jeremy Cross

President,

PARA
