Shreveport, LA – October 6, 2022 – Last Tuesday’s repossession shootout was pretty wild. But for the borrower who allegedly started this mess, it was apparently par for the course. On top of the obvious charges, he now also faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The trucker/borrower who allegedly fired firs and whose head was grazed by the still unnamed repossession agent has been identified as 42-year-old Samuel McMurry, of Winnsboro.

As was reported on Wednesday, it was just before 10:30am on Tuesday morning when dispatchers for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting shots having been fired at the Red Dot Storage at the 8800 block of Greenwood Road in Greenwood.

According to Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator; “A man came from out of town to check on two 18-wheelers that they were going to repossess. When he was out here checking on those – he was confronted by the man who had the 18-wheelers mortgaged.”

Caddo sheriff’s Det. Vincent Jackson reported that McMurry shot first when the repossession agent advised him that he was there to collect two of McMurry’s 18-wheelers because of non-payment. It was then that the agent fired back.

McMurry then reportedly fired a second shot and the repossession agent pulled out a second handgun. It was then that the shot was fired that grazed McMurry’s head.

McMurry then got out of his truck, jumped a fence and ran next door to a home in the Greenwood Elderly Apartments and broke in “acting “all crazy.” As the occupants allegedly put it. Running into their bathroom, he then climbed out the bathroom window and ran back to his pickup which was hauling an RV, reported Detective Jackson.

A Greenwood police officer arrived, drew his weapon and asked McMurry to surrender.

But true to form, McMurry ignored him and tried to drive away in his truck with the RV attached.

The officer fired shots at McMurry as he accelerated, crashing into the police car and a parked 18-wheeler causing the pickup truck and trailer to flip on its side.

McMurry is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a peace officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated criminal damage to property.
