“They come out of nowhere and cut my truck off, and the guy in the back with the bald head waved the weapon and whatever, and I got out of there.”
Chicago, IL – October 17, 2025 – Wade already had one bullet riddled tow truck sitting on his lot. Fortunately, Elite didn’t get one as their repossession agent kept his cool when he got cutoff by a gun wielding car of people who demanding that he pulled over.

Last Wednesday at about 10:45pm, an unnamed repossessor working for Elite Towing and Recovery out of their northwest Indiana office had just successfully completed a repossession with no incident. But by the time he’d reached the 7200 block of South Paulina Street, things took a turn for the worse.

Behind him appeared a suspicious car and it became obvious it was chasing him. But when they overtook him and cut him off, any doubt of their intention was dashed when a bald man in the backseat began pointing and flashing a pistol at him ordering him to pull over.
“I got lucky, I got lucky,” the agent reported. “They come out of nowhere and cut my truck off, and the guy in the back with the bald head waved the weapon and whatever, and I got out of there.”
The agent reported that he saw flashing police lights in the distance and drove toward them flagging down the officers.

“I was like 10 blocks down and I saw the lights, that’s why I was praying that they kept following me and sure enough I led them right here. Boom,” he said.
The agents plan unfolded as expected and the Chicago police arrested a 49-year-old man and woman as well as a 29-year-old woman who were also inside the vehicle.
Police also successfully recovered a gun from the vehicle. Charges are reportedly pending.
Wade Argo who was involved in the incident is also on the recently formed Repossession Agent Protection Committee, advises repo agents not to take on unnecessary risks and to avoid conflict. They should even leave if there’s a confrontation.
“I’ve got a truck sitting out in my garage right now with bullet holes in it,” he said. “The ideal thing would be to leave, defuse the situation, get out of the area. Unfortunately, a lot of these agents are paid by what they pick up. So, in the back of their mind, if they don’t get that vehicle, they don’t get paid.”

Editor’s Note: This incident is reminiscent of the June 2025 shooting in Detroit suffered by Brian Tolstedt’s Tolemite Recovery agents where two different agents were fire upon within one week. These incidents often go unreported and are suffered in silence by many Repossessors and agency owners across the country.
