Reflection, Healing and Gratitude – Jeremiah Wheeler’s Story
It really takes guts for a man, or woman, to take accountability for their life. It takes even more guts to broadcast it to the world. Selflessly, one of the repossession industries most powerful men bares all, for all.
I’ve known Jeremiah Wheeler of DRN for probably ten years. He’s shared with me his path to the repossession industry and I’ve always considered him a good man and a friend. Although I knew his path, I did not know his journey. And in Jeremiah’s new book, he shares the rocky road he has taken to recovery.
Anyone in the industry who spends enough time on the road knows; it can take a toll on you; your liver especially. Go to any repo industry convention and you will probably see a sales rep, agency owner or service provider who parties a little harder than is good for them.
No excuses, but this industry can take a toll on a person. Jeremiah lived this life.
And while he doesn’t at all blame the industry for his years of addiction; as a career and lifestyle, it certainly didn’t help him.
I focus on these issues because I believe there may one or more persons in the repossession industry who Jeremiah’s book may help. This has always been an industry full of “high-functioning alcoholics.” There have also been a good number of leaders, owners and other executives who have suffered from various other addictions.

Every path to the repossession industry is different as-is every path into addiction. Fortunately, Jeremiah shared his journey to recovery. While maybe not a blueprint to recovery, it is certainly a sound path.
The Unlikely Executive is a quick read with a strong story. It is a story of reflection, accountability, vulnerability and gratitude. It will be a wake-up call for someone, whether they first know it or not.
This is no “vanity book.” There’s nothing self-flattering in it. It is a testament to love, family and honesty. And I, like I’m sure Jeremiah, hope this book helps someone find their own path to recovery.
