Repossessor Bit and Beaten, Borrower Arrested

Fridley, MN – April 17, 2025 – A Twin Cities Repo Man had a brutal but fortunate encounter with a desperate borrower. Battered and bruised as he was, he was lucky the convicted killer with a lengthy criminal record hadn’t done worse.

On April 11, 2025, Police arrived at the 6100 block of Star Lane NE in Fridley where they discovered an unnamed repossession agent sitting on the pavement with his tow truck stopped in the middle of the street.

According to the agent, he had arrived at a nearby residence to repossess a 2015 Acura TLX sedan. But as he began lifting the car, he encountered the borrower, 44-year-old Clinton Trass.

Unknown to the agent at the time, Trass is reported to have an extensive criminal history. Along with his nearly 20 convictions for driving with a revoked license he has a 2004 first-degree manslaughter conviction for the shooting death of 21-year-old Ronzell Jones during a fistfight.

Reports claim that Trass ran from his residence as the agent jumped into his tow truck. Unable to flee in time, the agent was allegedly dragged from the cab of his truck and pushed him up against the vehicle. Making his way back into the truck, he was yanked out again by Trass.

Forcibly, Trass tried to get into the tow truck and a struggle between the men ensued. Trass allegedly punched the agent in the head multiple times, put him in a headlock and threw him to the ground.

Finally in the truck, Trass drove forward of the wheel lift and freed his car. He then is reported to have taken the driver’s keys and phone. Driving away with the Acura he then tossed the phone out of the window of his car.

The agent sustained a black eye, a scraped leg and an abrasion on his shoulder later determined to be a bite mark. Officers found a debit card and a hat on the ground, which was identified as belonging to Trass.

Four days later, on April 15, police stopped Trass moments after he drove from his home and arrested him.

On April 16th in Anoka County District Court, Trass was charged with first-degree carjacking and robbery. He appeared in court the same day and remains jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail, with no attorney listed in court records and no further hearings scheduled.

If convicted, Trass faces up to 30 years in prison and up to $55,000 in fines.
