Washington County, TN – February 27, 2025 – A personal property appointment went south real quick last Wednesday at a repossession agency in rural Tennessee. Car reportedly stolen at gunpoint, four employees were allegedly almost run down before the desperate duo fled. The wanna-be Bonnie and Clyde now face a series of serious charges
The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports that deputies were swiftly dispatched to a Towing and Recovery business on Bob Jobe Road in Gray where a disturbing scene had unfolded.
Victims at the scene informed police that Ryan Waye, 39, of Rogersville, and Tesha McDowell, 41, of Newport, had arranged to retrieve personal property from a repossessed vehicle.
The situation erupted into chaos as McDowell allegedly seized the repossessed vehicle and fled at a dangerously high speed, narrowly avoiding a collision with four people at the business, according to the WCSO.
Simultaneously, Waye is accused of menacing the business owner with a firearm before escaping in a separate vehicle, amplifying the threat of the encounter.
In response, a “Be on the Look Out” Alert (BOLO) was urgently issued to local law enforcement agencies. Leveraging the Flock Camera network, the WCSO meticulously tracked the suspects’ movements.

Less than an hour after the alert, Hawkins County deputies apprehended the pair, bringing a swift end to their flight, the sheriff’s office confirmed. Waye and McDowell were promptly transported to the Washington County Detention Center to face the consequences of their actions. The duo now confronts a litany of charges, including: aggravated robbery, carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault (five counts) and reckless endangerment (four counts).
Additionally, McDowell faces a separate vandalism charge, further compounding the gravity of the allegations against her, as reported by the WCSO.
