High-Speed Drama: BMW Driver Caught After Repo Gone Wrong

Nashville, TN – January 16, 2025 – The agent didn’t know the car was occupied when he backed into it. But when his tow truck got rammed by it, he found out the hard way. A car chase, road spikes and foot chase later, it did not end well for the borrower.

The incident began Thursday the 16th as an unidentified agent attempted to repossess a blue BMW X5 at Garfield and Nassau Streets. According to the agent, he did not know it was occupied when he had backed his tow truck up to it.

But when the driver rammed the BMW into the tow truck, he quickly found out.

With the agent wisely leaving the scene, the borrower took chase.

The arrest report states that after the collision, the BMW driver, identified as 31-year-old Vincent Johnson, began chasing the tow truck, stopping multiple times threatening to “blow his brains out.”

The agent is reported to have told officers that he never saw a weapon, but did see “a lot of suspicious hand movements” that appeared to indicate that Johnson was reaching for a weapon.

Police report that Johnson chased the repossession agent all the way to the mobile booking near Nissan Stadium where he spotted police vehicles in the lot. Finding safety in their presence, it is reported that Johnson called off his chase and continued down Shelby Avenue.

Providing police live coordinates of the BMW from an installed GPS device, the agent was able to coordinate with the officers and a police helicopter to locate the car.

Police report that they had attempted to pull Johnson over, but as soon as the blue lights were activated, Johnson “put the vehicle in gear and fled at a high rate of speed.” Officers added that in the process, he put multiple motorists and pedestrians in the area at risk.

Employing road spikes, police managed to bring the car chase to an end, but Johnson bailed from the car and fled on foot. But not for long as a police K-9 was quick to catch up to him.

Johnson was taken to a local hospital. Once able to access the BMW, officers reported that they found two pistols and soon discovered that Johnson had a suspended driver’s license.

He now faces a slew of charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm with intent, evading arrest in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, failure to appear, domestic assault with bodily injury and driving on a suspended license.

Upon discharge from the hospital, Johnson was transported to the Metro Jail and held on a $24,500 bond.

There is no report of injury to the agent and only the BMW and tow truck sustained any damage. While the name of the agent is still unknown, unverified reports indicate the agent was employed by an agency owned by an AFA member.
