St. Clair County, AL – July 10, 2025 – A hot headed moment has put a 79-year-old man at risk of spending what little time he has left of his life in jail. The cause, his firing on a pair of repossession agents who had just taken his car.
It was about midnight on Wednesday July 9th when the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in Pell City on Chula Vista Drive. Meeting with the victims, the two repossession agents reported having just taken gun fire from a person on who had just repossessed a vehicle from a residence on Chula Vista Drive.
According to the agents, as they were leaving with the car, 79-year-old Allen Lane Thomas emerged from the residence and opened fire.
St. Clair County Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate.
79-year-old Thomas was then placed under arrest. Thomas has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of shooting in
to an occupied vehicle.
He is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $180,000 bond.
