Saginaw, MI – January 8, 2025 – In the dead of night, under the cloak of Halloween festivities, a Saginaw woman, consumed by desperation, embarked on a high-stakes escapade. Her target? Her repossessed 2016 Chevy Tahoe, sitting idly on the tow lot with only a chain linked fence between them, as if daring her to take it back.

With the moon hanging low in the midnight sky on November 1st, sky, 31-year-old borrower Jasmine K. Dillard and others, allegedly slipped onto the lot of Best Towing. Spotting her SUV, she slipped into the driver’s seat.

Firing up the engine, they crashed through a locked gate like a bat out of hell, metal screeching against metal and made their escape. A neighboring business contacted police who later reviewed the surveillance video.

Over month had gone by when on December 3rd, police stopped the vehicle on Interstate 675 and found Dillard behind the wheel, they alleged. Officers asked her to step out of the SUV, at which point she allegedly sped off. Sirens wailing like banshees in pursuit of their prey, the police took chase.

Heart pounding, adrenaline coursing through her veins, Dillard is said to have pushed the vehicle to its limits, forcing other cars to dodge her frantic flee to freedom in her alleged dance of danger and defiance through the streets of Saginaw, she finally reached speeds up to 100 mph before police called off the chase for public safety.

But on January 4th, Dillard’s luck ran out when police spotted the SUV sitting in the driveway of a Saginaw residence. Police stopped, found Dillard, and arrested her.

Dillard is now charged with the theft of her repossessed SUV and leading police on a chase that could have spelled disaster for more than just her. She now faces the consequences of her midnight escapade.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, Dillard appeared before Saginaw County District Judge Terry L. Clark for arraignment on charges of unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of a building between $1,000 and $20,000, fourth degree fleeing and eluding police, illegal entry, and reckless driving. The first three counts are felonies, while the last two are misdemeanors.

Dillard is to appear for a preliminary examination on January. 28th.
