Winchester, VA – March 31, 2022 – He wasn’t even there looking for a repossession. But sometimes it only takes one wrong turn to ruin your night, as an agent found last week when he found himself staring down the barrel of a 9mm.
It was about 2:20am on March 22nd when an unnamed adjuster employed with First Choice Collateral Recovery found himself lost on the 200 block of Boundary Avenue in Frederick County, Virginia. Turning around to leave, he soon discovered that he was on the property of 62-year-old Franklin Brown Barb. And that’s when the trouble began.
Frederick county Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Warren W. Gosnell reported that; “he was unsure why things escalated.”
According to the recovery agent, Barb approached him from the rear of his truck with a flashlight in one hand and a pistol in the other.
According to Deputy Dustin W. Campbell’s criminal complaint. “He was in fear for his life and believed Franklin would shoot him,”
Deputies were called and took Barb into custody confiscating his flashlight and 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
Barb, was charged with brandishing a firearm and released on his own recognizance with an April 11 appointment in court at the Frederick General District Court.
