Shots Fired on Repo Man at Funeral Home

Twiggs County, GA – October 4, 2023 – 10pm, Tuesday night, a County Commissioner was startled when he saw his daughter’s truck being towed from his home. Bringing his son, and according to police, his .40 cal. pistol, he took chase. Catching up to the repossession agent at a funeral home, Ford stands accused of opening fire.

It all started at the residence of Twiggs County Commissioner Lonnie Ford’s home at about 10pm on Tuesday night when Ford saw what he claimed was his daughter’s truck being stolen. Watching his daughter’s car getting towed away and onto highway 80, Ford jumped into action.

Bringing his son and his .40 cal. pistol, Ford reportedly caught up to the repossession agent at the parking lot of the Reece Funeral Home on the side of Highway 80. Then things got weird.

Police report that Ford opened fire on the driver’s side tires of the repo agent’s truck and flattening one.

Either in chase or in cooperation, both Ford and the repossession agent drove to the sheriff’s office. By about 10:30pm, Ford was placed under arrest.

According to the sheriff’s department, the Repo Man provided legitimate proof of authority to repossess the truck.Shots Fired on Repo Man at Funeral Home

According to the sheriff, Ford is charged with aggravated assault, firing a firearm near a highway, reckless conduct, and damage to property. According to the sheriff shooting at a vehicle with a person inside is considered aggravated assault even if Ford did not intend to hit him.

Ford is reported to have bailed out for $8,500 at about 9am the next morning.
