Repo Woman Assaulted

Northampton County, PA – 24 February 2020 – A female repossession agent was assaulted by a borrower Sunday night in Hanover Township as she and another agent were attempting to repossess the man’s car according to a  Colonial Regional police report.

Police responded to a call just after 10:30 pm to an address on Orchard Lane after licensed recovery agents from VJ Wood Towing, Recovery and Repair were violently confronted and interrupted in their repossession attempt from the driveway of a home, according to police.

The report alleges that a male agent was removing a vehicle from their tow truck to make room for the other spotted vehicle as the other agent attempted to verify the VIN when she was confronted by a woman who tried to force her way  past her, enter the vehicle and lock the doors.

The vehicle’s registered owner, Andrew L. Bauman, 44, of Orchard Lane, allegedly grabbed the female agent by her jacket and threw her to the ground, injuring her right arm, police said.

Bauman and the other woman, who had earlier attempted to lock the car doors then entered the vehicle and fled west on Orchard toward Airport Road, police said. A subsequent search by officers failed to locate the vehicle or Bauman.

The female recovery agent gave police a written statement and documented her injuries.

Police report that Bauman will be charged in district court with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, criminal mischief, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without proof of insurance. Charges were not in the docket as of early Monday afternoon.
