SUV Allegedly Taken Back After Alleged Assault on Agents at Repo Lot
Youngstown, OH – May 8, 2026 – The recovery went smooth enough. But back at the lot, things got ugly quick. Allegedly punched and body slammed, the borrower repossessed the repossession.
Police in Youngstown, Ohio are investigating an unusual incident in which two repossession agents say a recovered SUV was forcibly taken back from their lot shortly after the recovery was completed.
According to reports, officers were dispatched around 12:55 a.m. Friday to a residence in the 800 block of Ridge Avenue after the agents reported an assault and stolen vehicle incident connected to a repossession.
The men told police they had successfully repossessed an SUV from the residence and transported it back to their storage lot on Glenwood Avenue. Once there, they said a man arrived and attempted to negotiate for the vehicle’s return, reportedly telling them he would make a payment “tomorrow.”
The situation allegedly escalated quickly.
According to the police report, the man became angry during the interaction, punched one of the repossession agents, slammed him to the ground, then entered the SUV and drove off with it.
The two agents reportedly attempted to follow the SUV while simultaneously calling 911, but eventually lost sight of the vehicle. They later returned to the original Ridge Avenue address to speak with responding officers.
The repo agents advised police that the SUV was equipped with a GPS tracking device, which later showed the vehicle at an address on Youngstown’s North Side. Officers responded to the location but were unable to locate the SUV, according to reports.
No additional information about arrests or charges was immediately available.
