Repo Agent Shot in Memphis

Trainee injured after woman allegedly shoots at repo crew during Highland Heights recovery attempt.

Memphis, TN – June 24, 2026 – A repossession assignment in Memphis turned violent early Wednesday morning when a woman allegedly opened fire on a pair of repo agents attempting to recover her vehicle, leaving one repossessor injured.

According to the Memphis Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Treadwell Street in the Highland Heights neighborhood.

Police say two repossessors were in the process of recovering a Lincoln MKZ when they informed the vehicle owner that she could remove any personal belongings from the vehicle before it was repossessed. The woman reportedly entered her residence while the repo agents maneuvered the vehicle and successfully secured it to their tow truck.

As the recovery was being completed, the woman returned outside carrying a purse. One of the repo men advised her that she could no longer enter the vehicle.

According to police, the woman then allegedly responded, “I’m going to kill you,” before producing what appeared to be a handgun and firing approximately two rounds toward the repossession crew.

The repo agents immediately entered their truck and drove away from the scene. During their departure, one of the repossessors, a trainee who had been standing near the driver’s side of the truck, realized he had been struck by gunfire.

Police later located the repossession crew near the intersection of Macon Road and North Highland Street, where emergency responders provided medical assistance. The injured repo agent was transported to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.

Officers detained a woman at the scene, though authorities have not yet publicly identified her or announced any formal charges.

The names of the agents and their employer are not disclosed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
