Memphis, TN – May 2, 2023 – On their way to a shooting call, Memphis police spotted a tow truck with a 2020 Dodge Charger dragged on the back running a red light. Pulling him over, they spotted the two flat tires and were very soon advised of their origin by a startled repossession agent.
According to Memphis PD reports, officers responded to a shooting call in the 7000 block of Riverdale Bend on Monday. Enroute, they spotted a tow truck running a red light. On its wheel lift, a 2020 Dodge Charger. Pulling the truck over, they agent told his tale.
According to the agent’s report to the police, he had gone to a residence to repossess the vehicle in his possession, when just as he was leaving, a man emerged from the residence. At a run, he opened fire on the agent discharging a reported five rounds.
As luck would have it, as they were interviewing the agent, the borrower, Reginald Owens, arrived at the same location. Call it audacious, or call it clueless, Owens reportedly came to take his car back from the agent.
Officers searched the area and reportedly found a gun near where Owens came from.
Owens was promptly taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault.
