Jacksonville Tow and Repo Community to Honor Fallen Recovery Agent Oliver Lopez with Final Ride Procession

Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Orange Park, FL – June 2, 2026 – The Jacksonville towing and recovery community is preparing to come together this weekend to honor the life of Oliver Lopez, the repossession agent who was tragically shot and killed while attempting to recover a vehicle in Jacksonville.

Family members, friends, fellow recovery professionals, and towing operators from across Florida are being invited to participate in a special tow truck procession and memorial tribute celebrating Lopez’s life and service to the industry. The event is being organized with the support of the Lopez family, local towing professionals, and Slow Down Move Over Inc.

Lopez lost his life on May 26 while working a repossession assignment at an apartment complex in Jacksonville’s Brentwood area. According to authorities, an altercation occurred during the recovery attempt before Lopez was fatally shot. The incident has sparked widespread discussion throughout the repossession and towing industries regarding the risks recovery agents face while performing their jobs.

The upcoming procession aims to provide a visible show of support for Lopez’s family while also demonstrating the close-knit nature of the towing and recovery profession.

A Community Responds

The death of Oliver Lopez has resonated deeply throughout the recovery industry. Recovery agents routinely work alone, often during nighttime hours, while attempting to recover collateral in emotionally charged situations. While most assignments conclude without incident, industry professionals have long recognized that every recovery carries an element of risk.

In the days following the shooting, social media pages, industry forums, and towing organizations across the country have been filled with messages of support for Lopez’s family and coworkers. Many have called on tow operators to participate in the procession as a way of honoring a fellow professional who lost his life while simply performing his job.

Organizers are hoping for a strong turnout of tow trucks and support vehicles, creating a fitting tribute to a man remembered by many as a hardworking member of the towing and recovery community.

As the industry gathers to say goodbye, the procession will serve as both a memorial to Oliver Lopez and a reminder of the sacrifices recovery agents and tow operators make every day.

Rest in Peace, Oliver Lopez.
May his final ride be one that reflects the respect, brotherhood, and gratitude of an industry that will not forget him.
