Repossession agents face knife wielding debtor

Idaho Falls, ID – October 17, 2022 – A pair of Idaho repossession agents benefitted from the installation of surveillance cameras on their truck. A knife wielding, tire slashing borrower can’t say the same and now faces a possible five years in prison.

A “crew” of repossession agents (exact number is unclear) armed with a notarized repossession order arrived at the home of 49-year-old Timothy William Stanton to recover a 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup Monday.

Stanton was not pleased and, according, the reported victims, started off by throwing several items from the ground before climbing into the driver’s side seat of the truck. It was at this point that Stanton allegedly emerged from the cab of the truck armed with a knife.

Stanton then is reported to be seen on the recording and approaching one of the agents who then told Stanton to stay away. The video then shows Stanton approaching the alleged victim who in the recording yells; “He’s got a knife. He just pulled a knife.”

At this point, Stanton reportedly stopped and is then seen turning around and walking back to the front of the agent’s truck, where he reportedly slashed one of its tires.

Disengaging from a violent situation, the agents reported the incident to the Idaho Falls Police Department reporting, according to at least one of the agents, that he feared for his life.

The agents returned with police present and recovered the truck where Stanton was arrested.

Stanton has been charged with aggravated assault. A crime punishable with up to five years in prison. He is also charged with misdemeanor malicious injury to property.

His bond was set at $10,000 and his first preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 28th in Bonneville County Court.
