Repo Assault on Normal Street

Pittsburgh, KS – August 26, 2022 – Just an ordinary repossession attempt on Normal Street. What was abnormal, was the 73-year-old man attempting the repossession. So, it should come as little surprise that it did not go well.

Last Friday, police in Pittsburgh, Kansas responded to a call of an incident at a residence on the 600 block of Normal street.

Police report that an unnamed 73-year-old repossessor had been injured during his efforts to repossess a vehicle. According to police, 42-year-old Tarek Mekkaoui had interfered with the recovery attempt when he jumped into the subject vehicle attempting to flee.

At that point, the unnamed repossession agent opened the driver side door in the effort to stop his hasty departure, when Mekkaoui backed up and struck the agent with the car door.

Mekkaoui was charged with aggravated battery and as of Friday, was still in custody at the Crawford County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
