IL Repo Man Loses Three Month Battle with COVID-19

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of 42-year-old Recovery Agent Jose Benjamin Lopez of “Done Right Recovery” in Lansing, IL. Jose passed away on March 4, 2021 after a three-month battle with COVID-19.

Over the past weekend, Jose’s body was laid to rest. As is the industry tradition, accompanying him on his way was a procession of well over twenty repossession company tow trucks made up of friends, coworkers and other repossession industry professionals who had come to pay their respect.

In December, Jose and his entire family contracted COVID and were under quarantine for almost two months with Jose ending up hospitalized. Jose ended up in three different hospitals and was placed on a ventilator and an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation machine (ECMO) to take over the functions of his heart. On March 4th, he passed away.

Jose was born on March 31, 1979 in Mexico, moved to Chicago when he was 6 years old, moved to Calumet City in 1995, moved to Lansing, Illinois, with his lovely wife and children in 2012.

He was a perfect employee and friend for Done-Rite Recovery Services, INC. He was also a long-time member of Jesus, Shepherd of Souls, formerly known as St. Andrew’s the Apostle church. Everyone loved Jose, he was the kind of person who would stop what he needed to do, and help out others.

Jose and family

Jose’s family is still struggling with the illness of one of his daughters as well as the funeral expenses. Jose’s daughter Arianna has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover some of the expenses. While no amount of money can compensate for the devastating toll of his passing, a simple donation can help shepherd them through this emotional and financially difficult time.
