Clifton, CO – April 13, 2026 – A repossession attempt at a quiet Clifton business plaza took an unexpected turn Monday evening when reports surfaced of a repossession agent briefly displaying a handgun. Within minutes, deputies were on scene, witnesses were talking, and questions began forming about what exactly happened.
Law enforcement responded to a report of a firearm being displayed during a vehicle repossession at a business plaza in Clifton, Colorado.
According to dispatch traffic and initial reports, deputies were called to the area of D 1/4 Road and 32 Road at approximately 5:00 p.m. after multiple callers reported a man with a handgun. The individual was described as a tow truck driver attempting to repossess a white Range Rover.
Witnesses stated the driver briefly displayed what appeared to be a 1911-style handgun before possibly holstering it. No injuries were reported.
Deputies arrived on scene and are investigating the incident. Authorities are working to gather witness statements, review any available surveillance footage, and confirm details regarding the firearm and whether the individual involved holds a valid concealed carry permit.
No charges have been announced as of this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
The names of the person or parties attempting the repossession are undisclosed. It may or may not have been a professional repossession agency involved. Man incidents of this nature are reported to hae been committed by used car dealers or their direct hires. Many of which receive little or no professional repossession training.
