Waukegan, IL – January 9, 2024 – A repossession attempt of a Tesla ended in gunfire from an alleged member of the Latin Kings gang. Escaping with the vehicle, the driver led police on a high-speed chase.

A pair of unnamed repossession agents attempted to repossess a red 2016 Tesla Model S on the 1100 block of Judge Avenue in Waukegan at 3:10am back on December 28th. Spotting the Tesla at the residence, they were making their attempt when three Hispanic men exited the residence, at least one was armed.

Greeted with gunfire, they wisely fled the scene and called 911. Fortunately, no injuries were reported to the agents, and it is unknown if their truck was hit in the melee.

The entire incident was captured on the trucks cameras and shared with police.

Soon after, police spotted the Tesla driving at a high rate of speed in the area of Sunset Avenue and McAree Road. With concerns over public safety, the officers aborted the pursuit, and an all-points bulletin was issued to all local law enforcement agencies alerting of the vehicle and or persons as wanted.

On December 30th, officers of the Gurnee Police Department spotted the red Tesla and followed it to the American Place Casino in Waukegan. The driver of the vehicle at the time of seizure was a known member of the notorious Latin Kings gang.

No charges have been announced by law enforcement as of yet.
