After legal consultation and discussion with the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association, regarding the pending Wisconsin repossession liability legislation, AB669, American Recovery Association (ARA) Executive Director, Les McCook has advanced the following letter in support of its approval to the members of the state judiciary committee that are taking it up for vote today.
Dear Chairman Ott,
We understand that a public hearing is being held tomorrow before the Wisconsin Assembly Committee on Judiciary regarding the proposed bill AB 669, Relating to the Repossession of Collateral or leased Goods.
On behalf of all recovery professionals in Wisconsin, their employees and families, as well as the many lenders and credit unions that are members of our association, we ask that you vote in favor of this measure.
I wanted to weigh in to let you know that the American Recovery Association stands in full support of the bill, as we believe that it properly clarifies important language relating to allegations of breach of the peace by merchants and repossession agents in Wisconsin, while at the same time preserving the strong rights of and remedies available to Wisconsin consumers under the Wisconsin Consumer Act.
I would appreciate it if you could note our support of the bill, and invite you to contact me if you have any questions or need any additional information regarding our organization.

Very Truly Yours,
Les McCook, Executive Director
