Agent’s Leg Crushed in Strip Club Repossession

Leg crushed between two cars, ripped up and foot turned to the side

Beaumont, TX – October 12, 2023 – Lying under the front of the car in the parking lot of a gentleman’s club, the repo agent could hear the engine start. Climbing to his feet, the borrower put it in gear. Pinned between two vehicles, his leg was crushed and bleeding profusely. The agent was rushed to the hospital and listed in critical condition and the borrower indicted by a grand jury.

According to a probable cause affidavit received by KFDM/Fox 4 News, police responded to a reported auto-pedestrian accident on September 29th outside of Temptations Cabaret on College Street in Beaumont. Officers found an unnamed repossessor on the ground and lying on his back. His leg was “ripped up” and bleeding profusely with his foot turned to the side.

Police reported that it appeared as though his leg had been smashed between two vehicles. Upon arrival, the Beaumont EMS listed him in critical condition and rushed him to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital where he was administered emergency surgery.

Witnesses of the event reported to police that the repo man was attempting to repossess a Hyundai Elantra from 47-year-old Carla Culver. The agent was reported to have been under the hood and in front of the car when Culver drove the vehicle forward. The agent’s leg was then reportedly smashed between the two vehicles.

Culver is reported to have confessed to detectives that she had seen and heard the victim underneath the hood of the car. She claimed that she intentionally placed the car in drive but wasn’t sure how the car accelerated forward.

Investigators reported that “whether or not Culver’s intentions were to harm the victim, she was reckless in her decision to drive the vehicle forward with the hood up,” knowing that the man was still in front of her vehicle.

Culver has been indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, a 2nd Degree Felony. If convicted, she faces a possible 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

There is no report as to the condition of the injured recovery agent following his emergency surgery.

UPDATE: As it turns out, the man injured was a car dealer attempting the repossession on his own.
