Scotts Bluff, NB – January 5, 2023 – It’s a bit cliché, but it does happen all the time. Locked and loaded, 39-year-old, James Cress, of Terrytown marched out of his home to thwart the repossession. While initially successful, he was soon to discover the age-old flaw in his strategy.
On Thursday, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched in response to a disturbance involving a man with a gun.
According to court documents, a pair of repossession agents had arrived at the home of 39-year-old, James Cress, of Terrytown for the purpose of recovering his vehicle for past due payments. As soon as they had arrived, they were introduced to Mr. Cress, and his shotgun.
Loading a round in the chamber, he allegedly lowered the gun at them and demanded they leave. Which they did and followed up with a call to the police.
Arriving officers managed to disarm Mr. Cress and reported that the shotgun was indeed loaded with four rounds including one chambered.
While attempting to handcuff Mr. Cress, he reportedly tensed up and proceeded to resist arrest.
Officers took Mr. Cress into custody and have charged him with making Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Obstruction.
