Jabril Ali is charged with attempted murder, robbery, weapons violations, and drug sales in the May 2022 shooting.
Chester, Pennsylvania – June 30, 2023 – It’s been almost 14 months since the May 3rd shooting of 38-year-old recovery agent and father of four, Jamie King at the gates of his employer International Recovery Systems. Since then, suspect Jabril Ali, has remained free and on the run while Jamie and his family suffered through a long road to recovery from the near fatal wounds. Last week, Delaware County detectives delivered to them the good news they’ve been hoping for.
On June 28th, at about noon, U.S. Marshals arrested 24-year-old Jabril Ali in the 1500 block of South Cleveland Street in Philadelphia. Authorities reported that Ali attempted to jump from the back window of the house he was in, but was surrounded by federal agents and apprehended.
Inside the house, officers found drugs and weapons. Ali has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, weapons violations, and drug sales.
Ali’s warrant and arrest stem from the shooting of repossession agent, Jamie King at the gates of his employer, Philadelphia repossession agency, International Recovery Systems. In surveillance video, King can be seen sitting in his tow truck outside of the business, waiting for his next repossession assignment. When he got out to lock the gate, an orange vehicle pulled up and a person gets out, allegedly Ali, and reportedly exchanged a few words before opening fire.
It is reported that Ali was upset that a rental vehicle he was using was repossessed by the company and was taken to the same lot.
Jamie was shot multiple times. Once in the head and once in the torso. Flight instinct kicking in, Jamie punched the gas and fled, but didn’t get far before crashing his truck.
Jamie was rushed to the hospital with long-term life-threatening injuries. King and his family received an amazing show of support and financial aid by the repossession and lending industries. After months of exhaustive rehabilitation, Jamie was finally released from the hospital and was back with his family. Soon after, he and his family relocated to Florida.
Last Wednesday, Delaware County detectives called King’s wife Nicole to provide the long awaited news of Ali’s arrest. Jamie King and his wife spoke to ABC 6 Action News about the arrest last Wednesday.
“A sigh of relief,” said Jamie.
His wife Nicole said the detective “gave us a call to let us know right away they got him, they got him.”
“Jamie has been in speech therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, “said Nicole.
Jamie’s recovery continues and is extensive. Jamie is currently struggling with seizures.
“We are blessed, his recovery is a true miracle,” said Nicole.
Jeremy Cross of International Recovery Systems told Action News that he too was relieved after learning about the arrest but was angry about what the shooter did to their employee and friend.
“The initial emotion was relief and satisfaction, probably revisiting some anger and frustration, but most importantly, Jamie and his family will have some peace,” said Cross.
“Our family has grown closer and tighter than we’ve ever been. This is going to be tough really, tough, this next step,” said Nicole.
