When Silence Is Not an Option: ARA’s Position on the Chase Contract

The ARA Board has heard you loud and clear.

Over the past several days, we’ve been flooded with your concerns surrounding the recent Chase contract that has entered our space. Like many of you, we are deeply troubled by what this contract represents—not only in its tone and structure, but in the larger message it sends about the direction of our industry and the treatment of the professionals who serve it.

This agreement, in its current form, is unacceptable.

It imposes unreasonable insurance requirements that are not aligned with the actual risks of our work, while offering stagnant rates that have remained untouched for years despite rising costs across every aspect of our businesses. Even more troubling is the complete lack of acknowledgment for standard and necessary services—like flatbed or dolly fees—that agents regularly incur in the field.

This contract is not in step with the needs of the agents who serve Chase, nor does it reflect the direction the recovery industry must move toward if we are to remain viable, professional, and safe.

The ARA Contract & Client Relations Committee officially reached out to Chase leadership this past Friday and requested a meeting to discuss these concerns in depth. We intend to have this conversation during the NARS conference next week or as soon as possible.

Until then, we strongly recommend that no member sign this contract without having it reviewed by qualified legal counsel. You deserve to fully understand the implications this contract could have on your business, your liability, and your long-term sustainability.

We will continue to advocate on your behalf and keep you fully informed as new developments arise. This is a moment for unity. The strength of our collective voice is how change begins.

Thank you for continuing to stand together in defense of this profession, and each other. We look forward to seeing many of you at NARS this week.
