The Big Value of a Small Coin

The Big Value of a Small Coin

“Anything, Anytime, Anyplace…Professionally”

This phrase has been the motto of Eagle Group XX since its creation 13 years ago. Originally it was to signify the commitment each member of our 20 group had made to the other members of the group and in year two we memorialized the motto by issuing each 20 group member with a challenge coin to remind each member of that commitment.

It is with no hesitation or mental reservation that I will state that the Eagle Group XX Challenge Coin was a “FIRST” in our industry, now copied by other groups and agencies. Do we mind? In the words of Harvey Altes, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery” so, no we take it as a compliment.

In the past 12 years the use and distribution to industry clients at various conferences has exceeded 3000 coins and I will have clients come up to me at trade conferences to show that they still “carry the coin”. Business cards get lost, misplaced, and thrown away… the “COIN” is forever.

The coin not only has the motto, “Anything, Anytime, Anyplace…Professionally” but also on the same side the saying, “A Big Person Knows The Value Of A Small Coin” and on the obverse side, “DIA MATHESEOS DYNAMES“, Greek for “Through Knowledge Power” as well as our Hotline 24/7 number, 800-411-1844 and our website address www.eaglegroupXX.com.

The coin is gold to signify it’s value, and dark scarlet, a color signifying power since ancient times. Dark Scarlet was second in prestige only to the purple worn by the emperors. Roman officers wore scarlet cloaks and persons of high rank were referred to as the coccinati, the people of scarlet.

Now that you have an idea of the history and meaning of the Eagle Group Challenge Coin, I would like to share with you two recent occurrences where a client, a lender in each case realized the “POWER” of the coin.

Incident #1:

At around 5:30 PM I received a call from a president of a very large credit union who religiously uses Eagle Group XX/USA members to handle his assignments. He was in another state on credit union business and while heading home on a busy interstate highway had a “blow-out” on a run flat tire, totally ruining the tire and damaging the wheel beyond repair.

He had no spare and knew no one in that area to call for help but remembered the “COIN”. I received the call and after obtaining his location and vehicle type I contacted our Eagle Group XX member in that city. Our member contacted the client directly and within two hours I received a call from the client thanking me and stating the member sent a tow truck which took him and his vehicle to a local tire store where the wheel and tire were replaced and that he was now back on his way home. He stated the Eagle Group XX member would accept no payment for towing the vehicle and told him that, “That is the Eagle way” and you carry the coin.

I can assure you that he continues to use members of our group to handle his assignments and always will remember the “Value of a Small Coin”.

Incident #2:

This incident occurred this week. I received a call from one of our members stating a person had called him after obtaining his name from the Eagle Group XX web site as holding the only listing in Oklahoma City (I do not list my agency) and only after getting a busy signal on the 800 number on the coin. He asked our member if he could wire his wife $500.00 to Las Vegas.

Yes! It sounded a little fishy to me. I knew a banker in Oklahoma City by that name, had known him since the 80’s and he had left a number for our member to call him back. I called the number and immediately recognized the voice of a very prominent president of a local bank.

He also recognized my voice and began to explain his situation. His wife was visiting her ailing father in Las Vegas and someone stole her purse with all of her money. She was on the verge of hysteria and did not know what to do.

I put the banker on speaker phone, called Peggy Chapman with Speedy Recovery, our Eagle Group XX member in Las Vegas on another phone. I explained the situation to her and put her on speaker phone, they introduced themselves to each other and the banker explained the situation.

Peggy told him she would handle it and would contact his wife and get some money to her. I received a call a short time later from Peggy advising she had met with the wife, gave her $600.00 and the matter was handled. I then received a call from the Banker, thanking me and telling me that when I gave him the “COIN” he never thought he would be using it for that purpose.

He wanted to know how much he owed me for helping him and how much he owed Peggy. I told him he owed me nothing and just to reimburse Peggy for the money she gave his wife. He stated he and his wife would never forget our help and I feel sure he will use an Eagle Group member for all his recovery needs.

These are just two examples of the value the Eagle Group XX Challenge Coin holds, and I could write about many more if space permitted.

If you carry the coin remember, “A BIG PERSON KNOWS THE VALUE OF A SMALL COIN” and if you ever hear someone say that know the response phrase, “AND A PERSON IS KNOWN BY THE COIN THEY CARRY“.The Big Value of a Small Coin

“ANYTHING, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE… PROFESSIONALLY” and the EAGLES really mean it.

The Eagles are always looking for men and women who exhibit professionalism and dedication to the recovery industry.
