Repossession Agents Fired on by Lego
Belington, WV – January 3, 2024 – A pair of repossessors attempting to repo a van, woke up the wrong man. Pistol in hand, Lego allegedly opened fire.
On January 2nd, West Virginia State Police Troopers responded to a call from a pair of repossession agents who had attempted to recover a Ford Econoline van. According to the complaint filed against him, the agents were in the process of moving the van when 43-year-old Jason Lego emerged from the residence and “brandished a pistol.”
He then allegedly “fired 4-5 shots, some in the air, some toward the wood line and one shot in the direction of the recovery agents,” according to the filed complaint.
When the troopers arrived at the scene of the reported crime, troopers asked a resident of the house to review a “DVR recording” of the incident recording from a security or Ring camera.
Things took an unexpected turn while the troopers were inside when they located “four 5-gallon buckets in a bathroom containing plants consistent with marijuana,” according to the complaint.
Later the same day, Lego “willfully surrendered to law enforcement.” While speaking with troopers, he claimed that “he woke up to two male subjects inside of the van in his driveway,”. He further claimed that when they “did not identify themselves,” he “fired shots into the air,” according to the complaint.
During the conversation, Lego reportedly claimed that “the marijuana plants in the bathroom were his and he had been growing them for approximately one month”;
It is reported that Lego had a previous felony conviction prohibiting him from possessing firearms according to troopers.
Lego was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of cultivation of marijuana. As of Wednesday, he was being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on $63,000 bond.
