Rambow’s Repo Ruckus Goes to Trial

No, not that one…

Ellensburg, WA – March 1, 2025 – A superior court trial is set to kick off Monday for an Ellensburg man whose name might suggest he’s ready to take on the world, Rambo-style. Shaun David Rambow, 45, is accused of first-degree robbery and assaulting a Repossessor attempting to repossess his car, perhaps not realizing he was dealing with a man whose name is synonymous with a one-man action movie.

Prosecutors allege Rambow pulled off a vehicular escape worthy of a Hollywood script, halting two repo men by leaping into his car and driving it off a lift truck as they hoisted it skyward. One of the vehicle recovery agents, with an arm still inside the car during Rambow’s dramatic getaway, wasn’t quick enough to dodge the action scene. Injured and unimpressed, he insisted on pressing charges, court documents reveal.

The alleged high-octane incident unfolded in May 2024 on Brick Mill Road. Authorities claim this wasn’t Rambow’s first rodeo, or repo evasion. In a prior clash, he reportedly thwarted recovery agents yet again, driving off just as they began lifting his car, a sequel no one asked for.

In addition to the mentioned first-degree robbery and assault charges, Rambow also faces charges of reckless endangerment and motor vehicle theft, to which he’s pleaded not guilty.

During a status conference Thursday in Kittitas County Superior Court, Judge Chris Herion reviewed trial briefs from both the prosecution and defense. He likened the legal filings to a map charting the course each side would navigate in the courtroom showdown. The trial kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, with jury selection starting at 9 a.m.

“We will see you back at 8:30 in the morning on Monday and we will commence your trial,” Herion told Rambow, setting the stage for his legal saga.

EDITORS NOTE: Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. With a name like that in Washington State, it must have been a rough childhood. Mr. Rambow is innocent until proven guilt in a court of law and deserves a fair trial. Although his name alone might make it hard. I hope the agent is well recovered and back to work.
