The Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF) was just recently notified by Amazon (and you may have seen the message below when you shop on AmazonSmile) that they are discontinuing the AmazonSmile program where non-profits can have supporters select their charity and then receive quarterly donations based on supporters use of the AmazonSmile link associated with their charity on eligible purchases.
The program will be discontinued as of Feb 20, 2023. Until then any eligible purchases you make through the AmazonSmile link, http://smile.amazon.com/ch/26-4434353, will continue to generate a 0.5% donation to the RABF. 2002 4th quarter donations, which include the holidays, are not in yet, but every little bit helps.
While this method of supporting the RABF is being phased out by Amazon, you can still use the recently announced Round UP! Program with Walmart https://www.walmart.com/nonprofits/8f849d59-edad-492f-ae24-975d641cd4f7/profile.
You can also make donations other ways. Shannon and Amy Smither’s company, Stealth Towing and Recovery Services LLC in Azle, TX facilitate their employees making donations to the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund each pay period. Keith Burger with Recovery Zone in Springfield, MA has the revenue sharing from his DRN program deposited monthly directly to the RABF.
These companies make monthly donations by sending a check directly to the RABF or by making recurring donations through PayPal http://www.recoveryagentsbenefitfund.org/donation.asp :
Another way the RABF raises funds is through a live auction and fundraiser held annually, historically the 3rd week in June, in conjunction with the RSIG and Allied Finance Adjusters Conference co-hosted annual meeting. This year that event (www.repo23.com) is happening June 20-23, 2023 at the Motor City Casino and Hotel in the home of the auto industry, Detroit, Michigan. Attendees can sign up for a tour of the Ford Factory and watch a truck being built from the ground up, hear tremendous industry specific speakers and participate in the live auction to benefit the RABF. Can’t attend the event, but still want to help? If you have items you’d like to donate to the auction, email us at donations@recoveryagentsbenefitfund.org. We are always looking for unique items to auction off.
The Recovery Agents Benefit Fund helped 9 families in 2022, who suffered from a range of issues including (not limited to) stroke, being run over by a truck, death relating to breast cancer complication and an individual receiving a heart transplant. Disbursements by the RABF exceed $685,000 since our inception, we plan on being around to help a lot more but we need your continued support! Pick your favorite way or ways to donate and support the RABF!
About the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund
To date the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund has assisted over 120 families with disbursements totaling over $677,000. This amazing accomplishment would not be possible without the support of the repossession industry. Giving to and supporting the RABF can happen in many different ways and the Board of the RABF and our advisory committee sincerely thanks every person, company, and organization that finds it in their heart and business culture to help.
Organizations like Recovery Specialist Insurance Group, Allied Finance Adjusters Conference Inc and American Recovery Association host events annually that provide the RABF opportunities to fundraise and for attendees to give back. In 2022, these annual events raised over $44,000 in total to benefit the RABF, which includes additional funds ($22,000) received in September from ARA for the NARS event hosted last June in Denver. At these events there are often auction events or raffles where companies and individuals like DRN, Dynamic Towing & Equipment, Miller Industries, Martin Giles from Atlanta Wrecker Sales, Detroit Wrecker Sales, Midwest Auto Auctions, BB Towing & Recovery in Hawaii, and others, donate items for auction or raffle which are what drive the donations from these annual events.
