Man with Shotgun Fires at and Chases Repo Men

Volusia County, FL – November 13, 2012 –  Scott A. Higdon is behind bars because police say he opened fire on two Repo Men from Florida Recovery Systems who came to repossess his truck.

The incident occurred on a road lined with gates and no-trespassing signs called Whispering Pines Drive in New Smyrna Beach, where the two Repo Men from Florida Recovery Systems attempted to repossess Higdon’s Ford Explorer.

Police report that before the men could even make an attempt to take the SUV, Higdon burst out through his front door with a shotgun running after them and firing a round into the air.

Neighbor Joe Nicosaa, laughed about the incident “I would try reasoning with them first, but I’m not sure I would shoot them,” he said.

Police report that the two Repo Men quickly fled the scene in their wrecker with Higdon chasing them. The men called the 911 and had police them meet at a nearby intersection, where according to investigators, Higdon arrived where they arrested him and confiscated his loaded shotgun.

Higdon allegedly told the officers that he chased the two men because he wanted to find out who they were. When the police asked why he didn’t just call 911 Higdon responded, “Yeah, I guess I should have done that.”

Higdon has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is in jail on a $2,500 bond.
