Where the repossession industry gets its news

Man Still in Coma Three months after Repo Went Wrong

Indiana man remains in coma three months later

Indianapolis, IN – August 6, 2013 – Still, after almost three months since Bradley Jones was thrown from a car driven by a fleeing borrower, he remains in a coma.

Jones, a mechanic by trade, went for a repo ride along with a friend to attempt the repossession of several vehicles at Expert Collisions in Beech Grove on May 21. Police say Jones was standing behind a car when the driver, 48 year-old Anthony Galbreath, backed up trying to get away.

Reportedly Jones somehow held on to the car and then was thrown off, landing on his head.

He was brought to Wishard Hospital in critical condition and had emergency brain surgery.

“It was just kind of a blur, doctors talking, telling us what had happened,” explained Albers.

Jamie Albers, Jones’s fiancé says Jones has been in a coma ever since. She says he has been taken off a ventilator and is breathing on his own, but doctors have told her there is a lot they don’t know about the brain.

Albers says the couple had just found out they were expecting a baby and were supposed to head to their first doctor’s appointment right after Jones got back from repossessing the vehicles.

“It’s hard, it’s very hard,” said Albers.

Albers says she’s had to postpone their wedding that was planned for September, and she says she will soon return her wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses to make ends meet.

She says at first, the store wasn’t going to take them back.jones_albers

“I feel like we’re giving up a little bit, but he wouldn’t want us struggling,” said Albers.

Police say 48-year old Anthony Galbreath, who was driving the car that day, is now in jail and faces aggravated battery charges.

Galbreath is due back in court on August 22.

“We pray for him, and we pray for his family,” said Albers. “I can’t imagine what they’re going through, because I know what we’re going through.”

Albers says she’s determined to stay positive- she’s due with their son in January.

“We have to, we have to. Don’t give up hope until all hope is gone,” she said.

Jamie says what the family really needs now, are prayers.

Jones’ birthday is August 24, and they’ve set up a Facebook event here.

The family has set up a Caringbridge website here.
