Fort Worth, TX – December 13, 2024 – The wheels of justice often move slowly. And in the of Adel Elhindawi, it’s been two and a half years since his murder. But justice has prevailed and his killer has received a sentence of 55 years.
Back on May 18th of 2022, Adel Elhindawi, the owner of Salem Autos, a small buy here pay here lot and another unnamed employee were out to repossess a loaner car that hadn’t been returned.
Having spotted the loaned Jeep Cherokee, the unnamed employee reported to police that he had started up the Jeep and was ready to leave with Elhindawi behind him in the blue Charger when the bullets came out of nowhere.
“As he came running at the car, he shot four shots at me. I ducked and made it out, and my boss couldn’t follow me because the shooter was right there,” he recalled. “So he tried to go around, but he chased him and shot him twice.”
The employee said that the shooter then pointed the gun back at him, put it to his head and told him to get out of the Jeep. And he did. Promptly, the shooter climbed behind the wheel and fled in the Jeep.
Elhindawi was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his head and back. He died the following day.
Soon after, Brian Espy, 31 was arrested at a nearby Motel 6 and was initially charged with assault. These charges were
upgraded to murder. Espy had reportedly been a customer at their car lot for years and knew the victim well.
Elhindawi was 52 years old and left behind a wife and two children.
On Friday, Espy was sentenced to serve 55 years for his crime.
