The Georgia Association of Licensed Repossessors (GALR) stands united in addressing a grave concern within our community. Recently, our colleague, James Ford, faced a life-threatening situation when he was shot at multiple times while performing his duties. While we are grateful that James is safe and unharmed, the danger he endured highlights the growing risks faced by recovery agents every day.
What is even more alarming is the apparent leniency from the courts in handling this case. The actions of the perpetrator were reckless, life-threatening, and completely unacceptable. Yet, the judicial system seems poised to let this individual escape accountability. This lack of justice undermines the safety and integrity of our profession and sets a dangerous precedent.
As President of GALR, I am calling on our entire community to take a stand. We must show our support for James Ford and send a clear message that violence against recovery agents will not be tolerated. Justice must be served, and it is up to us to demand it.
Hearing Details:
Date: Wednesday, December 18th, 2024
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Coweta County Courthouse, Georgia
This hearing is a critical moment to show our solidarity. I urge everyone to join us in person to demonstrate that our community will not stand idly by when one of our own is placed in harm’s way. Let us remind the courts that recovery agents deserve respect, protection, and justice.
Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can ensure that acts of violence against recovery agents are met with the seriousness they deserve.
