As the President of the Illinois Recovery Association (IRA), I would like to take the opportunity to reply to the previous article, Illinois Where are We Headed, dated 1/24/18. First, let me say that the IRA is not a secret association. The IRA is a state-wide association founded in 2001 for the purpose of having a medium where owner-operators could work in partnership. There are various benefits of the association; for example, the IRA made it possible for companies to stay well-informed of upcoming changes in the industry and developed and maintained a relationship with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).

Jon, thank you, for publicly making a statement. I look forward to talking with you to learn and understand more of what IRA stands for and their agenda. Like I said before, I do not know its or your agenda and to most that can be confusing.
Maybe, I was at the wrong PTROI meeting for a first timer but the agenda was greedy, to say the least. I did find out that if you don’t see something their way, you probably will not be asked back.
I do understand that 2012 was a huge blow to the size of this industry in Illinois. It is a very cumbersome load on businesses and employees to work in Illinois. With the loss of the lead ICC officer in my area, we have experienced an ignorant of civil law local policing practice.
While I do appreciate the efforts people have made to regulate and control the Illinois repossession industry, there are huge gaps that remain uncontrolled. These finer points would be a great place to start a change.
As an independent contract worker for repossessions, I am very concerned with the small employee level voice being heard, I don’t own or control, I just work and I read, to keep informed and then I research to find the details.
Again, thank you for letting us know why IRA is set up like it is and that there is an agenda. I will be talking to you soon.
