IL Man Charged with Threatening Repo Man and Damaging Truck

Joliet, IL – 4 October 2017 – A 40-year-old man in Wilmington finds himself facing a pair of felony charges at the Will County Courthouse in downtown Joliet in connection with an unusual crime. Robert A. Brown, 100 block of Parker Court, was arrested last week and charged with intimidation and criminal damage to property. According to court documents, Brown threatened to harm a man who came to repossess a vehicle.

On September 24, Brown “without lawful authority, knowingly communicated a threat to go in his home, get a weapon and be ready to use it against (the man),” court documents state. The repo man showed up to repossess a 2008 GMC Acadia, and he had a lawful court order to take possession of the car.

The complaint also states that Brown took out his frustrations against a flatbed tow truck, causing somewhere between $500 and $10,000 damage to the tow truck.

The Wilmington Police Department was called to the scene and officers took Brown into custody and his bond was set at $50,000. Jail logs for Will County show Brown spent about 14 hours in the county jail before being released on a personal recognizance bond. A judge ordered Brown’s release despite the objections of the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, online court records reflect.
