Boone County, AR – August 15, 2022 – Confronted by an angry and impatient twenty-two-year-old borrower with a gun, a pair of repossession agents just weren’t able to leave quick enough. Fleeing in haste and half way down the dirt road, they took fire.
According to arrest records, the repo agents had gone to a residence on Fields Lane in Batavia where they located a vehicle assigned for repossession. Lowering the flatbed to pick it up, an unnamed female emerged from the house.
Moments later, a male, identified as twenty-two-year-old Kristopher Woods rushed from the house gun in hand. Waiving the gun in a threatening manner, he demanded they leave.
Wisely, the agents raised the flatbed back up and climbed into the truck to leave. Reports state that the passenger in the truck watched Woods loading the gun and demanding that they drive faster.
Half way down the dirt road, Woods allegedly ran toward the road, aimed his gun and fired a shot.
The agents reported the incident to the sheriff’s Department who met them a safe distance away where they reportedly showed the deputy a bullet hole in the tow truck.
The deputies then traveled to the residence and located Woods and the unnamed female. Woods was taken into cuffs by one officer as the other deputy spoke with the female.
She allegedly confessed that Woods had shot at the tow truck and elaborated with complaints of issues they were having with the dealership. The woman wrote a statement claiming that Woods shot away from the truck toward a tree in their yard, claiming that “it could have bounced off the stone things we got next to our driveway.”
The woman alleged that Woods was upset because they didn’t leave the first time and lingered on the property for five minutes before realizing that he was serious. In her second written statement, she claimed, “I don’t believe he shot them anymore and it would be a lie because I was standing right there with him.”
At first, Woods denied shooting the gun multiple times, but because of multiple witness statements, he was transported to the Boone County Jail and Detention Center. His father reportedly showed up at the residence and directed authorities to where the gun was located inside.
Woods blamed the incident on the dealership and issues he and his girlfriend were having with them. He claimed that they had told him that they did not send anyone to repossess the vehicle.
Standing behind his claims that he didn’t fire the gun, Woods, at one point, allegedly speculated that his girlfriend might have grabbed the firearm. Finally confronted with the fact that charges could be brought against her if she did fire the gun, Woods reportedly admitted to firing the weapon, but then claimed it was by accident.
Woods claimed that he didn’t even look and just shot in the air. After the deputies interviews were complete, they returned to the towing company and unsuccessfully attempted to locate the bullet.
Woods was arrested on a felony count of a terroristic act and two felony counts of aggravated assault and is free on a bond of $10,000.
